bank plaza
On a Wednesday morning in Charlotte NC, I sit outside at the bank of america plaza. As I sit down I see men and women with suits and fancy dresses walking expeditiously to make it to work on time. I see luxurious furniture from the omni hotel and I over hear a conversation between a mother and father about their son scoring his first goal at his soccer game and how it was and I quote “one for the books”. The aroma from starbucks flutters in my nostrils with the smell of coffee and caramel. A lady just started cleaning next to me. All I hear is the sound of the vacuum cleaner and I can barely hear myself think. I feel these evenly spaced ridges from this table I am sitting at. I hear the blender making a double expresso with a shot of caramel for a “Jake.” A police officer just came and shook my hand and told me he was proud of me a black man doing his work and that you dont see that to often. I’m getting cold in here so I step outside and the humidity hits me like a freight train. I hear sirens from the ambulance passing by praying that God is with whoever is in it. A short guy comes racing down the sidewalk on a bird scooter swerving through people and not stopping for anything. A homeless guy was sitting on the bench eating a pack of bread. I decide to help him out and give him some money to get some real food. I start heading back to where my teacher tells us to meet and when I reach the crosswalk I have a nice conversation with a guy with a really expensive suit on. As I wait for the walk symbol this old lady starts poking me in the leg with her cane taunting me and telling me i’m walking to slow. In my head I laugh because it was just something I wasn’t expecting nevertheless was I okay with it. I immediately thought she just wasn’t all the way there in the head because there were cars still cruising down the road and she basically was telling me to walk in front of the cars. I turned around calmly and shoved her to the ground and told her to leave me alone. She went on about how that was rude of me but honestly everything went in one ear and out the other. I walked across the crosswalk while some gentlemen helped her up she eventually caught up and tried hitting me with her cane again so I grabbed her cane and snapped it and threw it in the road and told her go fetch. I walked off and she stood there and gave me the bird. I went on about my day like nothing ever happened. Once I git back with the team we walked back to campus in the summit of hell it felt like. I am not a city boy so all of this is new to me never in a million years would I have thought I would have to put a old woman on her ass. This is ridiculous I wouldn’t be surprise if I have warrant for my arrest. The city life is definitely different from life in Kannapolis there’s no big buildings or crazy elderly people I don’t have to worry about being hit by a bird scooter or hearing a curse word because somebody won’t turn fast enough. I will definitely have to get use to this but I am up for the challenge.

My First Blog Post

This is the first post on my new blog. I’m just getting this new blog going, so stay tuned for more. Subscribe below to get notified when I post new updates.
Introduce Yourself (Example Post)
This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.
You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.
Why do this?
- Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
- Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.
The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.
To help you get started, here are a few questions:
- Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
- What topics do you think you’ll write about?
- Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
- If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?
You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.
Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.
When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
